Ian Furniss: Senior Payload Systems Engineer

Ian Furniss is a Senior Payload Systems Engineer at Astranis, a San Francisco based company that designs, builds, and operates communications satellites in geostationary orbit (GEO). Ian will introduce the fundamentals of GEO and explain what a Payload Systems Engineer does, covering topics such as orbital mechanics, RF communications, link budgets, and how engineers design and test modern satellite communication systems.

Life Under the Arctic Sky: An immersive 360-degree full-dome planetarium movie that showcases the majestic Northern Lights, Sami reindeer migrations, and dog sledding across the Scandinavian Arctic.  You will see beautiful views of the Aurora Borealis from around the Arctic Circle as Sami herders, or “reindeer walkers” shepherd their herds across the Arctic tundra.
